2nd International Transport & Insurance Law Conference

  • 2nd International Transport and Insurance Law Conference – INTRANSLAW Zagreb 2017, was held in Zagreb on the 12th and 13th October 2017. The conference gave an opportunity to the foreign and local professionals and academics in the field of transport and insurance to gather and exchange specialised knowledge and experience and to assist in actual problem solving through a quality dialogue. The aim was to bring together the representatives of the private and public sector, profession and academia, and all branches of transport. The idea behind this project is to maintain a quality space for the gathering of the professionals of all profiles in the field of transport, insurance and the accompanying service industries.

In the congress center Forum in Zagreb, the participants had an opportunity to listen to the interesting presentations and to participate in the discussions on the topical issues from the field of transport law and insurance. The theme of this year’s conference was “Transport law towards the future”. Therefore, we focused, in particular, on the new technologies and digitalisation in transport, electronic transport documents, cyber risks in transport and in marine and transport insurance, clean and green transport and alternative fuels, liberalisation of transport services and the relevant EU legislation. We also tackled other topical issues, such as transport finance, multimodal transport, insolvency in the transport sector, current issues related to the ports, passengers rights and other important topics from the field. This year the INTRANSLAW conference was co-organised within the research project DELICROMAR no. 3061 financed by the Croatian Science Foundation, so one section of the conference dealt specifically with the legal issues related to the ports of nautical tourism.

The conference was attended by 190 participants from 15 countries (Croatia, Germany, France, Netherlands, Spain, Slovenia, Belgium, Italy, Latvia, Malta, Bulgaria, Bosnia and Hercegovina, Switzerland, Great Britain, Greece). Besides 13 invited lecturers, the conference programme included another 43 speakers – distinguished practitioners and academics from all over Europe. In addition, the conference resulted with a valuable publication – the Conference Book of Proceedings containing 25 excellent articles that passed the international double, blind, peer-review procedure.

The conference was organised by the Croatian Transport Law Association, Faculty of Law – University in Zagreb, Croatian Academy of Sciences and Arts (Adriatic Institute) and the Institute of International Transport Law and Logistics (IDIT) from Rouen.
